Healing My Heart was created by April Deweese, a trauma-informed practitioner specializing in narcissistic abuse, nutrition and mind-body wellness, integrating gut-brain science with over 25 years of experience. She is also a survivor of narcissistic abuse and childhood sexual trauma.
After years of living in chronic fight-or-flight, emotional invalidation, and nervous-system burnout, April rebuilt her health from the inside out — learning firsthand how trauma is stored in the body, not just the mind.
This personal journey inspired her to specialize in trauma-informed, body-based nervous-system regulation, emotional recovery, and whole-body wellness for survivors — so others don’t have to navigate healing alone.
With a background in exercise science, biology, psychology, and nutrition, April combines neuroscience-based trauma recovery, somatic healing, and evidence-informed nutrition to support survivors at every level — mind, body, and heart. Her approach bridges emotional safety with physical restoration, helping clients feel grounded, regulated, and safe in their bodies.
Survivors of narcissistic abuse often live in survival mode — anxious, exhausted, hyper-vigilant, disconnected, and physically unwell. April gently guides the nervous system out of chronic stress and into healing through evidence-based trauma practices, supportive movement, and anti-inflammatory nourishment that supports the brain, hormones, and stress response.
Healing My Heart is focused on restoring what was taken from you — your safety, dignity, and autonomy always come first.
