Healing My Heart was created by April Deweese, a trauma-informed nervous system educator and wellness specialist with over 25 years of experience, and a survivor of narcissistic abuse and childhood sexual trauma.
After years of living in chronic fight-or-flight, emotional invalidation, and nervous-system burnout, April rebuilt her health from the inside out — learning firsthand how trauma lives in the body, not just the mind.
Her own healing journey is what led her to specialize in trauma-informed nervous-system regulation, emotional recovery, and whole-body wellness for survivors — so others don’t have to navigate healing alone.
With a background in exercise science, biology, psychology, and nutrition, April blends neuroscience-based trauma recovery, somatic healing, and holistic health to support survivors at every level — mind, body, and heart. Her work bridges emotional safety with physical restoration, helping clients feel grounded, regulated, and safe in their bodies again.
Survivors of narcissistic abuse often live in survival mode — anxious, exhausted, hyper-vigilant, disconnected, and physically unwell. April’s approach gently guides the nervous system out of chronic stress and into healing through evidence-based trauma practices, supportive movement, and nourishment that supports the brain, hormones, and stress response.
Healing My Heart is not about fixing what’s “wrong” with you — it’s about restoring what was taken from you. Your safety, dignity, and autonomy always come first here.
